E.A. Tischler Presents a Storied History of Play

Ongoing Instruction

E.A. Tischler is the Director of Instruction for Olympia Fields Country Club, a nationally recognized club with a rich heritage of professional championship golf. Founded in 1915, by 1925 the club boasted four 18-hole courses and the largest private clubhouse in the world with an 80-foot, four faced clock-tower, visible to golfers from all four first tees. The grandeur of Olympia Fields was remarkable even to Herbert Warren Wind, America’s leading golf historian, who, in his landmark work, “The Story of American Golf”, marveled at this unparalleled expression of the spirit of the Golden Age. Most recently the club hosted the 2015 U.S. Amateur, the 2017 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the 2020 BMW Championship. E.A. has had the honor of serving Olympia Fields CC since 2015.

Before taking the position at Olympia Fields CC, E.A. was the Director of Instruction at Inverness Club, in Toledo, Ohio. Inverness Club is also one of Americas top private clubs with a rich history of professional and amateur Championships being played there.

Early Sights on Golf

E.A. grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, was introduced to golf at the age of 9 by his father and has been predominately self-taught. His passion for the game led him to become a true student, reading hundreds of golf instruction books and collecting a comprehensive library. He played his college golf at UC San Diego where he become the #1 player and was a member of the school’s Athletic Council. After college, E.A. turned professional in 1989 and pursued his playing career until an accident sidelined his plans. However, back in 1986 he was introduced to Fred Shoemaker, who was the head coach for the Inner Game of Golf Schools, and who later founded Extraordinary Golf. Fred took an interest in mentoring E.A. in the art of coaching and found he was a natural. Fred noted that whenever he introduced E.A. to a new technique, E.A. would go out and research it thoroughly and within a couple months would be able to write a book on the topic.

Developing Proprietary Curriculum

E.A.’s thirst for knowledge, as well as practical applications, led him to founding the New Horizons Golf Approach and New Horizons Golf Schools. Along the way he has self-published 28 golf instructional books, invented and patented a variety of training aids, became a Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructor and a Golf Digest Top 50 Teacher in America. He has been listed on the Top Teachers in his State lists many times, and is known worldwide as one of the best coaches in the world. He’s traveled the world coaching and playing, winning over 30 professional tournaments, setting 19 course records, 10 hole-in-ones and two double eagles. He’s also mentored hundreds of coaches along the way.

E.A. is known for his research in biomechanics, as well as being an expert in all aspects of the game – physical, mental and inner. Though many instructors are known for their specialty; putting, short game, long game, biomechanics, inner game, mental coaching, etc., E.A. is known as one of the few top coaches that is an expert in all areas. He’s mentored golfers of all levels, helping scores of juniors win state championships and earn college scholarships. He’s coached numerous mini-tour players and quite a few tour players most notably Scott McCarron, whom he coached on his way to finish 4th, 3rd, 2nd and then 1st on the PGA Tour Champions in consecutive years. In all, his students have won over 30 tour events and 2 major championships. He is especially good at helping golfers own their swings and revamp careers when they are in a slump.

Expanding His Curriculum

As far as helping golfers Own Their Swings, he developed the Power of 3 Golf Biomechanics and Fore54 Scoring Secrets approaches and authored a series of books titled “Secrets of Owning Your Swing”. He also co-founded BioSwing Dynamics with Mike Adams in 2009. Through that venture they spread “the approach” with education and certifications around the world, reaching hundreds of golf coaches. With that in mind, E.A. has become known as the Pro’s Pro because of how many professionals seek out his mentoring.
