After college, E.A. turned professional in 1989 and pursued his playing career until an accident sidelined his plans. However, back in 1986 he was introduced to Fred Shoemaker, who was the head coach for the Inner Game of Golf Schools, and who later founded Extraordinary Golf. Fred took an interest in mentoring E.A. in the art of coaching and found he was a natural. Fred noted that whenever he introduced E.A. to a new technique, E.A. would go out and research it thoroughly and within a couple months would be able to write a book on the topic.
